What we do
Alton Township serves 3 basic functions:
1) general assistance, which provides temporary financial aid to residents who are unable to meet their basic needs; 2) the assessment of real property for the basis of local taxation; and 3) fund programs and activities that promote economic development.
Assessor's Office
The township assessor establishes the value of all real property in the township to calculate property taxes.
General Assistance
The G.A. program provides food, shelter, utility, and emergency relief for qualifying residents.
Supervisor's Office
The supervisor is treasurer to all township funds and oversees township programs and administration.
